A couple weeks ago, my wife was driving home on the interstate while our youngest son played on an iPad mini in the back seat. Windows were down. Radio blasting. Your basic perfect drive home.
Then the iPad flew out the window.
Then my son screamed. To hear my wife describe it, it was something akin a blood-curdling-it’s-Friday-the-13th-and-someone-just-lost-a-limb scream. But she had no idea about the iPad.
She quickly pulled over to find out what was the problem and he was nearly inconsolable. “The iPad flew off my lap out the window! Daddy’s gonna kill me!!”
We’ll ignore the latter statement in favor of concentrating on the former. The iPad ‘flew’ off his lap. Out the window. While driving 75 mph. On the interstate. At twilight.
Yeah, it’s a goner.
Still, my wife was a trooper. After getting him calmed down (and reassuring him that his life wasn’t in mortal danger), she drove between the nearest two exits multiple times driving as slow as she could while looking in all the lanes. Unfortunately it was never spotted. With no luck using that method, she tried for one more run. This time, she drove in the emergency lane so she didn’t have to worry about cars breathing down her back and could go very slowly. When she got close to where our son woke the dead, there it was.
It was actually IN the emergency lane – she would have never seen it. Did I mention it was also a black case? And by now headlights were starting to come on?
She had been driving in the slow lane, but the window that it ‘flew’ out of was the drivers side rear window. Somehow, it miraculously traveled across the entire lane and wound up out of harm’s way. Well, except the harm of the road itself. And hitting it at 75 mph. How bad could road rash be for an iPad??
As it would turn out – it was PERFECT. Literally, not a scratch on it. The case has seen better days, but it did its job completely. No dents, no scratches, and no cracked glass. The case absorbed the entire shock. Amazing!! Guess he’s really not in mortal danger after all.
Check out these pictures, and if you’d like to buy this case, I can’t recommend this one highly enough. IT SIMPLY WORKS. Click here to buy it at Amazon now!
I should note that the scratches you see on the screen area in the pictures are actually surface scratches on the case’s screen cover. It has a built-in protective screen that covers the entire thing. Another plus!
